Between 1960 and 1977, Bulova’s Accutron such as the 63b018 was the most advanced wristwatch available. Although Elgin and Hamilton had released the first electric wristwatch in 1952, the Accutron was undoubtedly a game-changer. Max Hetzel, who designed the watch, was followed by William Bennett who further refined the design. Its most innovative feature was the usage of a tiny metal tuning fork driven by a one-transistor electronic circuit designed by Raytheon.
